💪 Consistency Vs Variety - Injury Risk and Performance 🤕 Reducing injury risk in any meaningful way means being physically prepared, conditioned for the physical demands of your life. That involves exercise, training. Like many things you have two extreme exercise camps. One one hand you have the Rippetoe, stronglifts, powerlifting types who advocate picking the 5 or 6 biggest 'bang per buck' exercises and getting good at them. Runners, cyclists and other single activity specialists fall into this camp too. Then you have conjugate programne and CrossFit guys who might do a wildly different session every time they train, constant variety. As ever, those on the extremes of these approaches are both equally right and equally wrong. The answer is in the middle. If you specialise you increase injury risk outside of a very narrow scope of movement because you don't condition anything else, and worse you give yourself the capacity to dramatically overload the deconditioned systems. If you generalise too much and have too little structure you never get any meaningful progression in any area and everything you do you are deconditioned to and is a risk in itself. This is why so many novice crossfitters get hurt. Here's where the magic is in programming: 👊 Identify your priorities 👊 Test a variety of movements and energy systems 👊 Identify deficits 👊 Programme consistency on your priorities to MAKE PROGRESS 👊 Programme variety in your assistance training, based on the test and retest results That combination maximises performance and minimises injury risk. Females have a unique physiology – the fluctuation of oestrogen and progesterone throughout the menstrual cycle means that tweaking a training plan may assist performance, reduce injury and support recovery.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There are 4️⃣ phases of the cycle: 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (or early follicular/period), 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿, 𝗼𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗹⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Because oestrogen and progesterone circulate in your blood, they can have an effect of various functions and tissues. So here are 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝟰 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1️⃣Testosterone is at its highest, so it might be easier to locate your teammates in a field, or smash that reverse parallel park – this is because testosterone is likely involved in spatial awareness. Phase 1 is a great time to learn a new complex skill where good coordination is required (or to show off a 10/10 reverse parallel park outside a busy cafe)💁🏻‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2️⃣High progesterone is thought to negatively impact muscle building and repair. Because of this, some studies have shown that during phase 1 there is an increased muscle building capability! So in phase 1, pick up some weights and work on strength training to get some serious gainzzz💪⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 3️⃣Phase 1 can mean reduced neuromuscular control and increased injury risk (the jury is still out on this one, but it may be due to the fluctuating levels of oestrogen). So to best reduce injury risk in phase 1, training should include sport specific warm-ups though landing training and muscle activation exercises💥⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 4️⃣There may still be increased inflammation occurring in the body, so it’s important to ensure plenty of time for recovery, including adequate sleep💤⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 and varies in length and symptoms. To train with your cycle, you need track it.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What about phase 2? Hormonal contraception? Nutrition? I hear you. We’ll get to that…⁣ ⁣ ⁣

TW🛑🛑Changes in the weather can often lead to changes in my mood. At the moment, I feel like my mood is fluctuating more than the exchange rates🙄 Yesterday I burst into tears on a Skype call with my therapist because she caught a glimpse of my self harm marks and questioned them, which is something completely new. I’ve never self harmed until last week. The emotional pain was just too much to bare, so cutting my hand seemed like the best distraction as I could focus on the physical pain instead. I feel like my head is a constant battlefield. However, I feel I’m in such a better head space than I was last week, and I’m learning that this is all part of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD). It’s hard not knowing which versions of myself I’ll see each day, but it also fills me with hope that the low feelings won’t last. I’m learning to ride the waves, rather than be hit by them when I’m least expecting. So it could be great for you when you start up resistance training again. However! If caffeine makes you stay up at night, this could inhibit your SLEEP and RECOVERY. If you continue to rely on these supplements to push you through you could burn out alot quicker. 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐢𝐭 ••• man kann für so vieles dankbar sein - gleichzeitig weiß man nicht wofür. wir neigen schnell dazu, dinge als selbstverständlich zu betrachten; oft erst bis diese dinge sich verändern oder aus unserem leben verschwinden. ja, erst dann bemerken wir, dass etwas fehlt. alles ist endlich - kann so schnell vorbei sein. euer handy in der hand ist wahrscheinlich der gegenstand, der von euch am meisten genutzt wird - zum tag dazugehört. aber es gibt auch menschen auf dieser welt, die sich genau diese ,,normalität“ nicht leisten können. statt dafür dankbar zu sein, vielleicht sogar immer das neuste iphone zu haben, machen wir menschen runter, die es eben nicht haben. oder warme sommerabende gemeinsam mit freunden; am strand, lagerfeuer oder einfach im garten. wir sind genervt, wollen bequemer sitzen, frieren oder schwitzen. aber sollte man sich nicht, anstelle des beklagens, dem bewusst werden, dass man mit tollen menschen gemocht & umgeben wird - die zu einem halten? und bei allem elend auf der welt - warum machen wir uns gedanken darüber, ob unsere schuhe 200€ kosten, unsere nase einen höcker hat oder unser bauch im sitzen falten bildet? es gibt menschen; so krank, dass sie bereits ihr sterbedatum prophezeit bekamen - sie lernen, auch kleinigkeiten zu schätzen. — doch muss es wirklich erst so weit kommen, damit wir achtsam werden? das vogelgezwitscher belauschen und uns am schönen sonnenuntergang erfreuen? und wir - an essstörungen erkrankten - wann zur hölle wollen wir damit aufhören, uns selbst ins verderben zu stürzen. anstatt dankbar zu sein, körperlich noch einigermaßen gesund zu sein, zuzusehen wie nach und nach auch diese gesundheit schwindet? die periode ist verloren, wunden heilen langsamer, ... — muss es denn noch schlimmer kommen, um zu merken, dass es so nicht geht? seid dankbar für das was ihr habt - kämpft euch zurück, was ihr vielleicht verloren habt & lernt dinge zu schätzen, bevor es zu spät ist. eure physische gesundheit zerstört ist - der tod vor der tür steht. i am not 1 in 5 — you won‘t be too, i hope. it‘s up to you. ••• #q was hat euch heute glücklich gemacht? 👼🏼

Everything about HMB Training was never planned. ⠀ ⠀ I never knew that one day I would be a trainer. I just happened to be in the right place, speaking to the right person at the right time. Once I did my research and correct teaching qualification, I had the fundamental steps to get my training centre created. I went on many courses, and with the experiences and knowledge; my business was born in Jan 2017. ⠀ From day one I wanted to be different and not the ordinary trainer. So, how I differ from other trainers out there: is I listen to my learners and their needs and requirements. I have my own requirements and need to meet the guidelines, otherwise I would not be compliant. While my learners are on an EFAW course, I ask if they have children, grandchildren or any contact with children. If this is a yes, I would bring out all manikins out, so they can learn. Also, on a Paediatrics course, I always bring out the adult manikin, as our ever growing 8 year olds are getting much bigger. ⠀ Over a certain age we class our children an adult, and in primary schools if you look at the year 5 and year 6 children, you will understand my point.
