This week while on vacation, I've added in some jogging before and after my workouts -- this has REALLY helped with steps and I've actually enjoyed having it as a part of my workout 🏃🏻‍♀️⁣ ❄️Make use of your environment🏢If you work in a large office building, fill up your water bottle and go to the bathroom far away. If you live somewhere with an apartment gym, take 10-15 minute walk breaks every hour or two. If you have decent size house, take a lap every half hour.💃🏻This might sound weird, but your body wants to move and I get you'll feel more energized throughout the day☺️⁣ ⁣ Now go get some steps! Here’s an epic memory from the vault in 2013... - Have you ever trained your Arms for 8 hours? - Well in 2013 me, @deanturner_coach and @jd_fitness101 did at @winners2000fitness - We were test running the late great Charles Poliquins ‘One Day Arms Cure’ program from his awesome book ‘Bigger Stronger Arms’ and spent a whole Saturday pumping up our guns and then went back on Sunday morning to ‘finish them off’ - Needless to say the #DOMS was pretty severe the following week! 🤣 - The theory being that through #supercompensation your arms can grow from between 1/2-1 inch the following week as your body adapts to the severe muscular and metabolic damage and the replenishment of glycogen (and just a little bit of inflammation😜) as long as you then pile your body full of nutrients, we managed to make some good gains. - We then ran the day again as an event for the lucky members at @winners2000fitness and as you can imagine it was pretty ‘cock heavy’ being so arm focussed 🤣💪 - Great days and I love these boys like brothers, we shared some fucking fun times at a time in my life when my enthusiasm for lifting weights was at its peak and my thirst for training knowledge at its geekiest, probably because of the people and environment I was surrounded by. - - #onedayarmscure #winners2000 #gunshow #twoticketstothegunshow #10yearsanniversary #personaltrainer #veganpersonaltrainer #personaltraineroftheyear2013 #mates #fatarmfriday #curlsforgirls #fitness #bodybuilding #FunTimes & #HappyDays #charlespoliquin

The squat... I’ve always like the statement about r being the perfect analogy for life... life (like the bar) will always try to pull us down, we have to constantly battle to stand tall or back up. Finally back into a more neurologically demanding phase of training. Will post videos soon. For the first 6 weeks of what I think will end up being close to 12 (yes with reloads, proper recovery and still remedial work) I’m doing a wave format. 9 sets, 3 waves of 4,3,2. Sticking away from any singles until I feel like I’ve improved enough where it’s worth testing. The big 3 will always be some of my top priorities when it comes to my own personal goals. That being said, quality of movement and longevity also are at the forefront. I spent a lot of time breaking down videos and photos and even just looking back to where my old lifts have failed in order to get better as I continually try to progress. Brutal honesty. With all of that in mind, as mentioned I’ve put a lot more emphasis with assistance exercises I haven’t really spent a lot of time with in the past, nothing fancy and more or less sticking to and trying to improve on the basics. TRAINING TIP - WHEN TRAINING THE CHEST YOU SHOULD TAKE THE PEC THROUGH ITS FULL RANGE OF MOTION. There is no need to go past full ROM. For example, with the DB Bench Press there is no need to come down any further or press them any higher than I am in the video. The way I am pressing them keeps constant tension on the pecs. If you come down further or press them further you are increasing the risk of injuring your shoulders. Shoutout to @benhead4life for teaching me this tip over 2 years ago, and motivating me to hit this PR with the 100s. Training for me used to be a reason that I wanted to look good, and when I was a single man I wanted to attract women. I trained to look good in a shirt, receive the comments of people saying I was looking bigger, and there was an aspect that it would aid my sporting performance. Training for me now has changed. I still train quite similar because I enjoy it and I know it will help me keep my physique looking how it is, but I train for my future self. I train to ensure I can do the things I want with my wife. I also train for my mental health. If I have kids I want to be able to play with them. I have had clients come to me scared their health would stop them doing these things. I have had clients who couldn't do these things due to excess weight or debilitating back pain. The difference is now that those clients can play with their kids. No more back pain. No more "Sorry sweetheart but Daddy/Mummy/Grandad/Grandma needs a rest." Instead it's the kids who are getting tired. Plus they look awesome at the same time! This is the same reason why I train. Do I still want to look good? Yes, and I feel good with how I look. But it's an investment in my future as well. Why do you train? I bet by looking at this photo, you guys couldn’t believe I can eat all this and still lose weight. So what’s the catch? Refeed days are a must when you are looking to cut back on weight. I make no exception of course! The method I use for my cut was carb cycling. Carb Cycling involves me cycling carbs throughout my week, some days I gorge on 500g and others I have less than 30g. The theory behind this is muscle use all digestible carbs as a fuel source which turns into glycogen (sugar in the body) in the body. With this we can manipulate how much glycogen we have and instead use body fat as preferred source of energy. This is achieved by controlling the amount of carbohydrates you put into your body. My cycle consisted of a low and mid day (30g then 100g) , followed by a refeed window on either the 3rd or 4th day. (250g then 500g on every third cycle) Of course the preferred source of calories are not candies, sugary drinks or even Starbucks. (which I love) Instead, I use oatmeal, bananas, oranges, apples, rice, beans, and even Chipotle. These take a bit more effort to break down effectively, but we are trying to keep our metabolism cranking OT! Don’t be seduced by thinking drinking water and eating salads are the key to weight loss. The importance of refeed and cheat days cannot be stressed as depriving yourself of calories and nutrients for too long can have reverse effects on your body!

So day 3 of being #vegan is proving to be amazing. I’m loving the ability to create new dishes that have a more beneficial result! But u have to admit, the sweet cravings have emerged and I don’t currently have anything at home (apart from fruit which I am not craving) that is vegan. The last couple days fruit has done the job but not today 😖 But the #plantbased life chose me so here I am with my hot water thinking about going to Tesco tomorrow for something yummy and vegan with chocolate 🍫
