It’s about that time again - berry picking! Lots of strawberry farms are opening up their you pick fields. Blueberries and peaches aren’t far behind them. As well as lots of local farmers picking berries and selling them on their stands. I know this year is weird but I still highly recommend you seek out locally grown berries from a farmer or go pick your own - in bulk! Why? Because a) they taste like sunshine b) they are red through the entire berry c) you’re supporting local d) it’s likely to be healthier for you in the sense of being handled, transported, sprayed, etc. e) it’s cheaper and lastly f) no single use plastic or unnecessary packaging! Why buy in bulk? So you can bring home, wash, slice (or not) and freeze. I have a handful of berries left in our freezer from doing this last year and used them all winter in smoothies, sauces, muffins, sweet treats, homemade ice cream and so much more.
